FIRE AT WAIHI MINE
ORE-PRODUCING POINTS UNAFFECTED. [Pbb United Press Association.] WAIITI, March 23. A fire occurred in the underground working of tho Waihi mine No. 7 level at 8 o’clock last night. Tho company’s up-to-date underground fire-fighting equipment was immediately brought into nso. The ore-producing points in tho mine were not affected, as tho area of tho fire _ was confined to tho old workings; but it is certain-j.that a number of men will bo thrown "out of work ponding subjugation of the outbreak and clearance of smoke from tho fire area.
