MINISTER OF PUBLIC WORKS
BRIEF STAY IN DUNEDIN. Tho Hon. J. G. Coates, Minister of Public Works, will arrive in Dunedin by motor car from Central Otago about 6 o’clock this evening, and will proceed through to Oamaru to-night. During his brief stay hero tho Minister will bo approached by a deputation from the Dunedin Returned Soldiers’ Association to ask for the commencement of public works to relievo unemployment. The mayor (Mr J. S. Douglas) will ask tho Minister to endeavor to see that Otago gets its fair share of the money which tho Prime Minister has stated will bo allocated for works during tho coming winter.
