FIRE FIGHTERS.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—Wo would like, through your columns, to express our appreciation of the excellent work done by the City Tiro Brigade at the fire in our premises on Tl ursday last, 16th inst. They made a very fine save in confining tho damage as they did to one department, thereby minimising our actual Joss bv firo and trade disorganisation. \Ve would also mention two men from H.M.S. Chatham, who rendered yeortan service. We were not aware that when on shore leave these men are expected to assist in such emergencies, and, censidering they are not specially equipped for this work at the time, their conduct gives further proof that the British Navy to the last man is always ready (o protect tho lives and property of British subjects when in danger at any time ai d it any place.—We are, etc., William Stewart and Co. March 20.
