The Kotare’s crank shaft was sent to Dunedin early this week from Bluff to be repaired. The shaft will be shipped back to Bluff by the Paloona to-morrow. It is expected that tho Kotnro will leave the southern port on Sunday morning for Waikawa, where she will load timber for Dunedin.

Tho Storm, which is undergoing overhaul at Lyttelton, will be recommissioned to-morrow” She is expected to reach Dunedin on Saturday to load for Wcllingtnji. The Kanna steamed down to Port Chalmers this afternoon to undergo survey and overhaul. The Wingatui is expected to leave Auckland to-morrow for Lyttelton, Timaru, and Dunedin.

The Kaiapoi is expected to leave Melbourne to-day with general cargo for discharge at Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton. and Dunedin. The Manuka is timed to leave Sydney to-day for Auckland, where she should arrive on Monday morning. The Kini is to leave Picton to-night for Onehunga with a load of produce. Tho Wairnarino arrived at San Francisco on Tuesday morning from Vancouver. She is expected to sail to-day for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, Melbourne, and Sydney. Tho Whan gape is expected to leave Wellington to-morrow for Dunedin to discharge the remainder of her coni cargo from Newcastle. Tho Kamo is expected to leave Greymouth to-morrow for Onehunga and New Plymouth.

Tho Shaw. Savill, and Albion Company’s steamer Maimoa, from Barry (Wales) via Balboa and Panama, arrived at Timaru yesterday morning with 5,500 tons of coal’ for tho Railway Department. She, left Barrv on October 27.

The Union Company advises that the Tofua will sail from Auckland on Sp-tnr-day next for Fiji. Samoa, and Tonga. Tho vessel will return to Suva from Tonga on December 26, and will sail from tho Fiji port on December 29 direct for Auckland.

Cable neves has been received by the C. and D. Line that, the Port Albany, en route from London, left Panama on December 1 for Auckland and Wellington. The vessel is due at Auckland on tho 24th inst., and at Wellington about a week later. The Port Albany, on completion of discharge, will load in New Zealand for London. Tho Shaw, Savill, and Albion steamer Tairoa, which left Cardiff on November 22 with a cargo of Welsh coal for Bluff, is expected to roach her destination about January 1. The Ruahine, due in Wellington on December 22 from London, will discharge cargo at Wellington and Lyttelton, and then loads frozen meat, dairy produce, and general cargo for London. She will go to Auckland to complete, and is expected to sail finally from that port, late in January. THE FERRY SERVICE. The Wahine arrived at Lyttelton at 7 a.m. to-day from Wellington, and mails and passengers connected with the first express for the south. STEAMER JOHN ANDERSON SOLD. (Special to the ‘Star.’] CHRISTCHURCH, December 7. Tho well-known coastal steamers John Anderson and Cygnet, were auctioned today. The John Anderson realised £2.650. tho purchaser being Mr George Wood, of Hokitika, who will upe tho vessel in tho West Coast trade. The Cygnet was passed in at £4,400. The John Anderson, which was built at Lyttelton thirty years ago, is of fifty-two tons register. NEW STEAMER FOR AUSTRALIA. A standard steamer of 3,121 tons gross, built in 1918 by R. Thompson and Sons, of Sunderland, and engined by J. Dickinson and Sons, has been purchased hy W. Bell and Co., of Melbourne, for £39,000, or £l2 10s a ton. She will probably be utilised in the general cargo trade.

PACIFIC MAIL STEAMERS. The Tahiti loft Wellington at daybreak yesterday for San Francisco via Rarotonga and Papeete. She is due at the Californian port on December 27. Tho Makura is scheduled to leave Vancouver at midnight to-morrow night for Auckland and Sydney via Honolulu and Suva. She is due at Auckland on December 30. Tho Niagara arrived at Sydney at 11 a.m. yesterday from Vancouver and Auckland via ports. She is timed to leave the New South Wales port on December for Auckland. She will be due at the latter port on December 19, and is scheduled to sail on December 20 for Vancouver via Suva and Honolulu. The Manama, en route from San Francisco lo Wellington and Sydney, is duo at Papeete to-day. She is due at Rarotonga on December 11, Wellington on December 19, and Sydney about December 25. PALOONA DUE TO-MORROW. The Union Company’s passenger steamer Paloona is due at Dunedin tomorrow morning from Melbourne via Wellington and Lyttelton. On arrival the vessel will berth at tho cross wharf to discharge a large quantity of general cargo, which includes several hundred cases of fruit. Tho Paloona is timed to sail tomorrow evening for Bluff and Melbourne, KAITANGATA RECOMMISSIONED. Tli© Kaitangata, which was recommissioned yesterday at Port Chalmers, .steamed up to Dunedin this morning and Willed at the "Rattray street wharf to lead for Wellington, Westport, and Grevmouth. She is lo'sail to-night, and will call at Timaru and Lyttelton to complete her loading. Tho vessel will subsequently load timber at Grcymouth for Newcastle, Sydney, and Melbourne.
