FIRE

HAWE-RA, December 7. Two fires occurred, last night. The Taranaki Building Company’s premises were destroyed. The fire having a strong hold when it was discovered. A high wind was blowing, but the brigade’s splendid work prevented the spread to adjoining properties.,. The loss is estimated at £5,000. The second outbreak occurred two hours later at the back of the premises of Batov, builder. The brigade was promptly on the scene, and effected a fine save. The building was a very old one.
