(Received October Id, at 8,55 a.m.) Sir Jan Hamilton, in ins book ‘The Soul and Body of an Army.' urpps the appointment of a Minister of Defence to control tho sea, land, and air forces, with a united general staff, upon which the forces of tho Commonwealth and tho Dominions should bo strongly represented. Tho sequel tn this uuitT of control would lie (lie establishment of a united services stuff college, replacing the separate staff colleges, where students would receive general instruction in tho work of all the services, finally at the end of the term electing in which service they might specialise. In this way officers of- either service would acquire a knowledge of the sister services. —A. and N.Z. Cable.
