At the annual conference of the New Zealand Cycling and Atlijetic Union this afternoon Air Davy (Poverty Bay) drew attention to the case of a man named Gregory, who, with his partner, won the world's championship sawing competition at the last Gisborne carnival. Jumping down ns his partner ami he, finished sawing, Gregory came down on the saw and cut a sinew in his leg. with the result that lie was crippled. He was a married man with nine children. Aftey discussion it was decided to give authority to tho Gisborne Centre to make an appeal throughout New Zealand on behalf of tho injured man. A suggestion was put forward by a delegate that an accident insurance risk should be taken out for tho day of a sports meeting. Another suggestion was that tho union should establish a fund of its ownT"-
