A deputation from the Yorkshire Wool Federation interviewed Lord luverforth to-d?.y regarding the wool position. The deputation requested, a complete explana-. tion of the Australian proposaL and asked whether the British Government was sympathetic or whether it intended to resort to. the expedient of selling its wool stocks "to Germany. After what Colonel Willey, M-P n who was the leader of the deputation, described as a full and frank discission by both sides, the deputation decided to report to the executive at.Bradford toctorrow before further action is taken. lb is understood that the department is in favor of selling the low grades of ~ its stocks to Germany and te other Continental buyers on long credit, but considers that it is impolitic to participate in "any transaction which could more properly be undertaken by commercial organisations.— A. and N.Z. Cable. .INFLUENTIAL SUPPORT. LONDON, December 23. Colonel Willey, ex-Controller of Wool Supplies, and an influential member, of the Wool Federation, states that he hopes that the federation will endorse the Australian realisation scheme. Interviewed by the Australian Press Association, he said that he considers the schema a wise one, and in the interest of the whole textile trade. It was to the interest of the British industry that Australian and New, Zealand pastoralists should not suffer a set-back. The abnormal' conditions justified exceptional handling He did not believe that a further decline in ■values ■would improve the position by stimulating the demand for cloth; consequently growers and manufacturers would alike benefit by the scheme, which promised less harm to the British textile interest than others and N.Z. Cable.
