LONDON', December 23. The Minister, during a discussion in tho House of Commons on the Turkish policy, saiH it -was desirable to reach an agreement -with anybody able to control Asia Minor. The Turkish Government had reached an agreement -with Kemal Pasha, who -was en route to Constantinople. The Allies would be able to negoniate -with the Turkish Government for a modification of the Sevres Treaty. This was no easy matter, and the Allies could not make an offer to Kemal Pasha without the consent of Greece. He was treating the Turks, fairly, and he begged the House not to change Britain's whole Eastern policy. 'The Mediterranean was vital to Britain. The nation wanted-the friendship of the people of Greece; and he-asked the' House not to rash into the tearing up of treaties which were based upon the principles of a policy vital to the Empire ,or to restore conditions which nearlv proved fatal during the war,—A. and "ln.Z.
