ORPHANS' CLUB
* —. I From the 22nd annual report of the | Dunedin Orphans' Club we make the following excerpts: During the session 50 new members were elected (28 were elected in 1918). After allowing for resignations and removals, the club roll at the end of the season numbered 234 (including soldier, life, and orchestra members). The statement of revenue and expenditure shows a credit balance of £ll 14s Qd. . The surplus of assets over liabilities is £144 15s. Every meeting during the 1919 reason was largely attended, and the programmes submitted were greatly appreciated. The special nights, including the " Hard Up " and " Halo Choir " nights, were most successful. The ladies' evening held in the Early Settlers' Hall was exceptionally well attended and thoroughly enjoyed by the guests. The Male Choir entertained the i club on November 4. A change in the I eonductorehip at the beginning of the J season was necessitated by the illness and I death of Bto. 6. B.'Laidlaw. Bro. Hilmer : Davie generously filled the breach, and later on Bro. James Coombs took control. To both of these enthusiastic members the club are indebted for the many excellent and artistic items rendered by this popular section of the club..
