FUNERAL OF REV. J. L. MORTIMER
[Special to tiie 'Star.'] CHRISTCHURCH, March 26. The funeral of the late Rev. John Laurence Mortimer, at one time assistant curate at St. Michael's Anglicar Church, Christchurch, and until recently vicar of St. Peter's, Caversham, took place this morning. A service at St. Michael's was conducted by Canon Mutter, at which Dean Carrington read the lesson. There was a representative attendance of clergy and parishioners. The pall-bearers were Messrs F. A. Tapson, K. Matheson, L. S. Pilgrim, A. J. Jarrett. Many beautiful wreaths were sent. The interment took place in Burwood churchyard.
A solemn re'quiem service was held at St. Peter's Church, Caversham, yesterday, in memory of the deceased. The service, which consisted of the Holy Communion, followed by the Absolutions, was conducted by the Rev. L. G. Whitehead, and there was a representative' congregation of clergy and laity.
