PUBLICATIONS RECEIVED
We have received a copy of the first number of a new publication, * The Democrat,' "a monthly journal of Lalbor, art, and literature." Its sixteen poge3 of (reading matter ara well written, well selected, and well printed. It® politics, for it has politics, may be judged from the following extract from its second article, entitled the ' Outlook ' :—" Bolshevism may be the ' black hand' society we are told it is, or it may be democracy drivenmad, using violent methods to emancipate itself. Wo havo neither the time, nor the desire to debate the subject. Neither have we time for hair-splitting about the merits of Socialism while we live in hovels, and, the profiteer snatches the bread from the mouths of our children. Lot us do the things that are nearest, and the work that lies to hand just now, is to shift the political acrobats from our backs."
