LIQUOR ON TRAINS

At a meeting of the Provincial Executive of the Fanners' Union at Ohristchurch yesterday tho chairman (Mr 11. Jones) drew attention to the great amounfe of drinking indulged in on tho south trains. He said ho could speak from personal experience while travelling on trains, and ho could quote instances of lavatories being practically turned into bar-rooms while women and children were in the same carriage. Be moved—"That we draw the attention of the traffic manager in Canterbury to tho growing habit of drinking intoxicating liquor to excess on the south trains." Several delegates spoko strongly about the matter, and urged that the Minister of Hallways -be approached with a view lo r'-racdying- the evil. The motion was carried.
