Twenty-nine boys from the naval training ship Tingara were sailing in a outtei in the vicinity of North. Head, when the craft capsized. Five were drowned, and a number of those rescued were badly exhausted and. cut about. The Tingara cutter accident occurred ofl Dobroyd Point, one of the most dangerous spots in Sydney Harbor. Although the cause is not clear, it is assumed that a heavy sea struck the boat broadside on and she capsized. The crew’s plight was not noticed for some time. The first intimation was received by two campers on Dobroyd Point, one of whom immediately swam out a disI tance of SCO yards and brought one boy j ashore, but, after rescuing a second boy, he j collapsed and was compelled to abandon further attempts. The police and other campers rescued the remainder in boats, with the exception of five.
