FORBURY SCHOOL BAND

A very enjoyable day and evening was spent on Satur-dnv ,by the members of the Forbury School Fife and Drum Band, who were entertained by the school committee end supporters in recognition of their \ winning tho A grade contest at the recent ; Competitions. In the morning the band ! journeyed by boat to Portobelio, where a | programme of sports and games was ar- j ranged, and Mrs Harwell supplied a good dinner On arriving back in town Mr Kroon had ten in readiness in the cymnasium. At S o’clock the parents and supporters were admitted, and a good progrumne of mitecal and band items was [ rendered. Mr G. A. Lucas (chairman of | committee)) was in the chair, and songs 1 were contributed by Mi--- Vickr-r.-, Mr Reid, Miss Perkins, and Mr J. Roddeu. , The accompaniments were played by Miss ; E Frye and Mr Wilkinson. i During the evening Mr Smith presented \ Sergeant Bell was a medal for winning I the first prize in tho B flat flute solo contest at the recent Competitions, and also | the- first prize certificate for the A grade ; test selection contest. Mr Lucas presented ; the bandmaster (Mi D J Simpson) with : a framed enlarged photograph of the band | in recognition of his services? in bringing , the Kami to a. state of efficiency pvhich enabled them to win the con l petition. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded to the perfoimera for their cervices.
