INCREASE IN SYDNEY. Pres. Association —By Telegraph—Copyright. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. MELBOURNE, March 16. Influenza cases continue to decrease. There were only six deaths yesterday. March 17. Two additional deaths from influenza axe reported. SYDNEY, March 16. Influenza, apparently assisted by 'the cool spell, continues to increase. Cases in New South Wales during the past week number 97, compared with 64 in tha previous week. In support of tho value of Inoculation it is stated that two well-known doctors conducting bacteriological work used their own blood with the object of isolating tho influenza germs. Both had been inoculated, and when the germs were introduced into the blood they invariably died. Thojf then secured the blood of a non-inoculated person, in which tha germs flourished. A Melbourne doctor states that he has seen no pneumonia in cases infected immediately after the first inoculation. Another said that ho had not seen a bad case in previously inoculated persons. March 17. There were three deaths from influenza during the week-end. MORTALITY IN MANCHESTER. LONDON, March 15. (Received Maxch 17, at 11.40 a.m.) The influenza epidemic is on the wane in London, but is still rampant in the provinces. There were 300 deaths in Manchester last week, and 100 at Bolton. The gravediggers at Manchester were so hard pressed that relatives of tke dead vn some cases assisted in making the graves.
