The Works Committee recommend Ibat authority bo granted to purchase sufficient land on the eastern side of Elliott street, Anderson Bay, to widen the said street to 40ft. The land in question is at present being subdivided for sale, and Ihe owners are prepared to dispose of the portion required for the widening at tne rate at which the adjoining sections are sold by auction, with a proviso that in any case the amount is not to exceed £135. The area involved is 13.13 poles, and the only alternative is for the council to accept dedication from the owiu-rs of land sufficient to widen the street -":3 ft from the centre of the present roadway. The Electric Power and Lighting Committee report that the tender of the American General Electric Company, Ltd., for the supply of three, 750 KVA transformers for the Halfway Bush sub-station fcr the sum of approximately £1,805 delivered alongside ship, New York, has been accepted. Allowing for duty, the co=t will bo about £2,581, as against the next lowest tender of £2.904 from the British Electric Transformer Company, Ltd. Tenders for this material were obtained in London by direction of.- the council, and the prices cabled out by the council's agents. Authority has been granted to invite tenders locally and in London for the supply of one I.OCOkw three-pinse regulator for tho Halfway Bush sub-sta-tion. Tho Finance Committee recommend mittee for a supplemental maintenance vote of £350 to cover tho cost of the sanitary department's operations up to March 31 next be approved. The additional expenditure has been due to the general ; ; se in cost of materials and wages, together with the unforeseen expenditure in connection with tho influenza epidemic. Authority has boon granted to issuo a, further rJortion of the debentures in the Public Works loan to the value of £5,000 to cover the expenditure authorised by council to March 31 next. The debentures will be taken up by tho Renewal Fund Commissioners.
