AUCKLAND, March 15. At the Police Court to-day Catherine Dann and Ernest Dann were fined £5 on two charges of selling _an indecent post card. Before the Fisheries Commission Mr Ayson, chief inspector, said there wasi no part of New Zealand where there was such a very largo extent of trawling and fishing ground as around the coast of Auckland province. WELLINGTON, March 15. One effect of the visit of the Epidemic Commission to the quarantine station at Somes Island is to draw attention to the total inadequacy of the buildings for the purpose. They are 40 years old, wormeaten, deficient of every convenience, and cannot accommodate any largo number. It is estimated that a heavy sum will be required to install the buildings and appliances suitable for accommodating a large number of persons. WAIROA, March 15. The City Counoil yesterday decided to apply to the Government for permission to harness Waikaromoana for electrical power, also inviting local bodies on the East Coast, Napier, and Gisborna to call a conference with a view to all joining in.
