WAR BURSARIES

The Minister of Public Health stated at Wellington yesterday that about 90 a 'PP» A cantions had been received for the oO war bursaries recently offered by the War Funds Council. These bursaries are to enable succesful applicants to take any university coarse, including law and medicine. .. The question of dealing with applications said the Minister, was now under consideration, and the necessary reports had been obtained from the Defence Department and the Education Department with regard to each of the candidates, and a further statement would be made within a few days. I hesitate to make a direct application to these bodies, but I would like to say if anv of them are prepared to indicate their willingness to assist in the matter, the War Funds Council will be very pleased to confer with them in order that, if -possible, the whole of the suitable aplicants for bursaries may be asS *The Minister added that the first 50 applicants for bursaries were distributed over four military districts, as follows : Wellington 14.
