Messrs Donald Reid and Co., Ltd., report : Wo held our weekly auction sale of grain and produce at our stores this morning, when values ruled .as under : —■ Oats. —-The fine weather experienced of late has brought on harvest .rapidly and enabled a considerable amount of threshing to be done. Deliveries of the new season’s oats have already been made here ami in moat cases tho quality is highly satisfactory. The reduced prices now quoted at Northern ports have caused a lull in tho market, as farmers aro not disposed to sell on equivalent terms. There is therefore little business to report for tho past week. We quote; Prims milling, 6s to 6s 3d; good to best feed, 4s 10q to £s; medium, 4s 6d to 4s 9d; inferior, 4s to 4s 4d per bushel (sacks extra) Wheat.—No new wheat has so far made its appearance on the market. Fowlwhoat is in moderate supply and commands ready sale. Potatoes. —Fair supplies aro coming forward. Prime freshly picked lots meet with good demandj but those in indifferent condition aro not in request and can only bo placed at reduced prices. We quote; Best table potatoes to £9 ; Medium, £8 to £8 10s. Others, £6 10s to £7 10s per ton, sacks included. Chaff.—Shippers are out of the market and the demand is confined to tho local trade. Prime oaten sheaf is the only class in favor, lower grades having little attention. No new chaff has yet been put on tho market. Wo quote: Best oaten sheaf, £7 15s to £8; medium to good, £7 to £7 10s, light and discolored, £6 to £6 15a per ton (bags extra). -

Messrs DaJgety ami Co., Ltd., report as follows : Oats.—.The market at present, is in an unsettled state and lacks animation. During the past week deliveries of Romo of the early-threshed lines of now season’s have come forward, the grain being bright in color and well! filled. The quantity of old season’s outs on hand is very light. Feed lines are meeting with fair inquiry for local requirements at values which shove a drop on lato rates. Nominally values may bo quoted as follows ; —-Prime heavy milling samples. Be to 5q 3d ; good to best feed, 4s 9cl to 5s ; medium, to good, 4s to 4s 6ch per bushel (sacks extra). Wheat. —Millers have been drawing supplies of new reason’s wheat from Canterbury, ponding the threshing of tho grain from local districts. Supplies of fowl wheat have also been arriving >from tho north, and meeting a ready sale at full rates. Potatoes. —The market has been well supplied during the past week, and lute rates are not maintained. The quality of the tubers coming forward is quite satisfactory, and give evidence of good yields. Choice, freshly-dug lines are receiving, preference from buyers, and arc. saleable at from £8 Kfe to £9 ; medium to good, £8 to £8 10s per ton (sacks in). Chaff. —Although the market has been well supplied, there is not a great deal of good heavy chaff coming forward, the bulk of the consignments comprising medium quality and light chaff, which is neglected. Buyers, Having fair stocks on hand, are not disposed to operate except for bright, heavy, well-cut lines, which are realising from £7 10b to £8; medium to good, £6 10s to £7 10s; light and inferior from £5 suer ton (sacks extra].
