CEREMONY AT THE DRILL HALL. His Excellency the Governor-General (Lord Liverpool) attended tfcus Kensington Drill Hall last evening to present medals for honors won on the field. Tho jar*re hail was crowded -with troops, Territ-orials, a::d Cadets, Colonel J. Oowie Nicholls being ia command. The number isf troons on parade was 1.494 of all ranks. The public were also present in large numbers. The Band of the Fourth Regiment plaved the National Anthem on the arrival of tlis Excellency, who afterwards spent gome time in inspecting the Territorials and Cadets. Lord Liverpool, in a short address, said that it was the King's command that he should personally present on His Majesty's behalf certain military decorations and medals. The. presentations were to bo made, if possible, at a military parade, such parade to be considered as a cereRiorsdal parade, although the troops might be in field service dree?. Tho presentations were made as follow: —Military Cross.— Mrs Horwood, Bay View road, St. Kiida. widow of the late Captain Alfred Ernest Horwood, Field Artillery, in recognition of conduct on the field.'" . Mr A. Morrison. Kaitangata, father of the hue Captain Makolm John Morrison, infantry, for " conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty." During an attack upon a village he led his company with great ability, maintaining; direction under very difficult ciroum stances, and when temporarily held up by our own burr, go making most skilful t'se of ground during his advances. Master Roland Justice Hill, Carroll street, Dunedin, son of the late Captain Roland Justice Hill for " distinguished service on the field." Mrs H. Campbell, Cromwell, mother of lieutenant C. J. M'D. Campbell (since deceased), Australian Infantry, "in recognition of g-ailanwrv and devotion, to duty on the field." Mrs B. Mollison, of Meadow bank, Oama.ru, mother of the iato Second Lieutenant Benjamin Mollison. "Sew Zealand Rifle Brigade, "for conspicuous gallantry in action." He led his company with great courage and skill, penetrated to the enemy's support lines, where jjreat loss was inflicted, and five prisoners "were captured. —Distinguished conduct Medal.—• Serpeant R. Lepper, New Zealand Riflo Brigade, for " conspicuous trail antry in action." He rushed forward under heavy fire and_ brought back into safety men who were lying wounded hi front of tlte filing line.
