SOUTHERN FORCES' INSULT TO ENGLAND AND JAPAN. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. Renter's Telegrams. SHANGHAI, March 4. The Chinese Southern forces have closed the Upper Yang-tse Kiang (the great river on which stand Nanking and Shanghai near its mouth, and Hankow in the interior). They fired on the Japanese gunboat Fushina, and a party from the British gunboats Woodcock and Kinsha; also upon the Japanese steamer Tahung, which returned to Hankow bespattered by bullets. One passenger was seriously injured.
