, The yield of gold' of Victoria for Novom'ber was 19,1850z gross, or 17,8710/, of fine gold, valued at £75,912. This showed a decrease of .4,2580z of iino gold as compared with the yield for November of lastyear. The return for the past 11 months was ■ 202,7310z gross, or 188,4810z of fine gold, valued at £789,585. Compared with the quantity won during the corresponding period-of last year a decrease of 45,4150z fine had occurred. The New South Wales gold yield for ■November was 7,1440z crude, equal to 6,9030z fine, valued at £29,323] as compared with 7,7710z crude, equal to 7,2430z fine', valued at £30,765 for the same mouth in 1916. The yield for the first 11 months of last year amounts to 81.25707. crude, equal to 77,8130s fine, valued at £330,527. as compared with 99,6380z crude, equal to 81,9150z fine, valued at £347,954 for the sains period in 1916, thus showing a decrease of 4,102 fine and £17,427° in valne. Satisfactory results have attended the progress of No. 166 diamond drill bore, which has been extended 108 ft from the west crosscut at the 1,170 ft of tho Broken Hill South mine. Tho bore was put out bearing north 49deg. west, and at 53ft entered 31ft of ore, assaying 17.6 per cent, lead, 7oz silver, and 18.2 per cent, zinc. A band of schist, 3ft wide, then followed, after which occurred 21ffc of ore, assaying 20.5 per cent. load. 8.30z silver, and 18.7 per cent. zinc. The Talisman Consolidated Company during December treated 1,030 tons of ore for -bullion valued at £11,340, malting a total for the year of £139,320, compared with £83,231 in 1916. The total amount won from the'mine is £27,794. EDNA MAY COMPANY. Tho Edna .May Company obtained 1,3550z gold from -2.011- tons of stone during December, while the cyanide returns totalled £1,729, as contrasted with 1.9690z gold from 3,073 tons of quartz, and £1,62 C from the cyanide plant for the previous month. .Owing to the water trouble, which has now been overcome, and the intervention of the holidays, the tonuago milled for December was considerably reduced. The board consequently decided to forego the monthly dividend for January. During December the Edna May Deep Levels crushed 300 tons of ore for 1,0520z bullion, as compared with 950 tons for 1,180-ioz for November. The value of the bullion won by the Edna May Central for December is, stated at £2,543, while the cyanide return equalled £7BB—a total of £3,331. The aggregate return for the antecedent month was £3,566. TRANSVAAL GOLD PRODUCTION. Particulars of the gold production in the Transvaal for September, and the first nine months of last year, are as follows, the corresponding figures for the 'same periods in 1916 being added in parentheses : —September: Ore milled, 2,245,097 (2,418,794) tons: gold won, 738,231 (771,567) fine ounces, valued at £3,135,807 (£3,277,408); average value of stone milled, 6.48 (.6.29) dwt, or (26s 9d) per ton. Working costs, , £2,178,548 (£2,191,820), or 19s 5d (18s 2d) per ton milled. Working profit £859,683 (£994, 047), or 7s 9d (8s 3d) per ton. Dividends paid, £140,461 (£204,567). Nine months: Ore milled. 21,147,322 (21,826,172) tons: gold won, 6,825,644 (6,945,671) fine ounces', valued at- £28,993,577 (£29,503,344); average value of stone, 6.39 (6.29) dwt, or 27s 2d (26s 9d) per ton. Working costs, £20,195,335 (£19,856,047), or 19s 2d (18s 3d) per ton. Working profit, £8,045,105 (£8,846,389), or 7s 7d (8s Id) per ton. Dividends paid, £3,509,075 (£3,948,970).
