NO SHORTAGE OF LABOR
[Special to the ' Star. '] - CHRISTCHURCH, January 9. Reports of the scarcity of labor are amply disproved by tho experience of a Christchurch firm, who inserted a wanted advertisement on Saturday for four thresh-ing-machine hands. In tno forenoon there were over a dozen applicants, from whom the required quota were selected, and a steady stream of applicants was turned away'right up to midday. Advertising for some laborers for. a foundry, Booth, Macdonald's requirements could have been filled 10 times over. An office boy's job advertised by the same firm produced about a dozen applicants.
