OCTOBER'S AIR FIGHTING.
LONDON, November 3. (Received November 4. at 10.55 a.m.) According to the communiques, 171 aeroplanes were lost on the west front in October. The British downed 39, the French 65, and the Germans 77. The September total was over 300. [Ambiguity in the cabling of the above message leaves an alternative reading—i.e., that the number of British machines brought down was 39, French 65, and German, 77.]
