MINING
The manager of the Waibi Extended mine reports that the shaft has been sunk a. further 4ft, making a total of 200 ft below No. 6 level, and 1.300 ft from the surface. At this point a set of bearers is also being put in. A marked improvement is now noticeable in the country in the shaft, the last two brings showing a particularly good-looking class of stone.° AUCKLAND GOLD YIELD. The gold returns to band from the Auckland district mines during the month of October totalled £60.444 3s 3d, as compared with £68,675 'ss - 9d for the corresponding month of last year, a decrease of £8,251 2s 6d.
