CITY POLICE COURT. (Before J. R. Bartholomew Esq., S.M.) Drunkenness.—John Burke and four first offenders were each lined 10s, or 48 hours.— -A charge against Cvril Watters wag adjourned until Friday next. Four Charges.—Richard Coughlan, a prohibited person, was charged with drunkenness, with procuring liquor, with resisting Constable Winn, and also with damaging a policeman's helmet valued at 9s 3d. Accused pleaded guilty to all the charges. Constable Winn said that he arrested accused in Cargill road on 'Saturday night on a charge of drunkenness. Ho resisted violently, kicking and punching. He deliberately put his foot on witness's helmet. Accused was lined 5a or 24 hours on the first charge, 10s or 48 hours on the second, 20a or three days on the third, and he was ordered to pay the value of the helmet or 24 hours on the fourth. Resisting.—Thomas Tobin was charged with drunkenness, and also resistino- Constable Webster.—The constable said that ho arrested accused in Cumberland etreet on Saturday night. As they entered the Police Station accused resisted violently, and jritness had to obtain assistance.— Accused was fined 10s or 48 hours on the first charge, and £2 or seven days on the second. Attempted Suicide. Alice Mor.se. pleaded guilty to attempting to commit suicide.—Sub-inspector Broberg said that accused lived in Albert street. Yesterdav afternoon Constable M'Culloch and Dr Kvans wero called to the house, and there found that the woman had. drunk a quantity of poison. The doctor used the stomach pump on her. Accused did her best all the time to prevent him treating her. She left two letters showing Dial the attempt was premeditated. .She had previously been before the Court.— Accused was convicted and ordered to bo detained in the Salvation Army Reformatory Homo for 12 months.

_ Alleged Forgery.—Cecil Lytlelton Hawkins, an officer in the Defence Forces, was charged that, on the 27th December, 1913. at Auckland, he did commit forgery <.f an accountable receipt purporting to besigned by J. H. Parslow for the sum of £2 12s, and did cause Alfred Bartlett- to act upon the same as if it were genuine.— Chief-detective Bishop asked that accused be remanded to appear at Auckland next Monday. There were other charges pending against accused, and he asked thai the bail be substantial.—Accused was remanded accordingly, bail being allowed himself in £2OO and two sureties of £IOO each. Bail was immediately forthcoming. By-law Oases.—For driving a, ■ motor cycle at a speed dangerous to the public Kenneth M'Kemie Melville and Frederick Goodwin wer-> each fined 20s and costs. William Sincoek, for driving a vehicle at a pace, faster than a, walk whilst passing a. standing tramear, Mas lined 19s and costs. Theft from a Steamer.—James Mort was ehargod with the theft from the steamer. Tainui of a bottle of gin, a vacuum Mask, teven tubes of tooth paste, of the total value of 225, the property of the Shaw, Sa.vill, and Albion * Company. Mr Irwin defended. L. Dennisfon, Ltd., .said that a. consignment of 25 esses of gin arrived by the Tainui for his iirni. Some of the 'cases had been breached, ami 20 bottles we<e missing.—George Henry Kins:, Customs clerk for Kempthorne, "Prosser, said th-ii 29 cases of " Kolynos" (tooth paste) arrived by the Tainui for his firm.
