HER NEW CAPTAIN. [Per United Press Association..! WELLINGTON. September 21 the Minister of Internal Affairs (the Hon. G. W Russell) has received, through the High Commissioner the following letter from Captain John i'. E .Green, who lias succeeded Cn retain Lionel Halsey in command of the battle cruiser New Zealand :-—" I have the honor to inform you that Captain Lionel Halsey having been appointed to the Iron Duke as commodore first class, and captain of the fleet I have taken over command of H.M.S New Zealand in his place. Having followed the history of the ship since she was lust offered to the Mother Country, I fully appreciate the honor and responsibility which has been conferred on me by their Lordships, and I can assure you that I shall do mv utmost to maintain the high state" of efficiency in. which I found the ship, that she may be a credit to the Dominion, and a worthy response to the patriotism and foresight of her people on the next occasion of her being tried."
