It will astonish the uninitiated to see garments of all descriptions made entirely from material cut from stockings which have been donated to the league. A child could be clothed from head to foot (with the obvious exception of boots or shoos) with these garments; caps, frocks, underclothing, all being fashioned from hosicrv of various kinds. In addition to these thereare a few dresses, etc., made from remnants of cloth, etc.. bought with cash donations made to the league. AH this clothing is to be packed to-morrow and sent to Great Britain and Belgium for the use of the poor and the refugees. One of the most interesting exhibits is that of 79 pieces made by the late .Mrs James Stewart, who had been an assiduous worker in tho «cod cause. One table holds a number of Christmas presents that are to be sent to the little ones; these include tiny chests of drawers made from ordinary wooden matchboxes, balls, dolls, etc. The garments exhibited have been contributed by the following branches : Dunedin (about 1,000 pieces), Waimate, Wellington, Mosgiel, Winton, Berhampore, Invercargill, and Maori Hill—a total of_ over 3,000 pieces. A consignment of 1,340 pieces from Gore is alreadv on the wa y.*°. En §lar.d. In connection with the exhibition is a tea room under the supervision of Mrs Capstick, and a sweets stall in charge of Mrs Purdie, and those visiting the hall cannot fail to be deeply interested. One of the objects of tho exhibition, indeed, is to sain the interest and help of more lady workers. It may be mentioned that Lady Liverpool is the patron of the league, while Mrs M'Laren is the president.
