POLITICAL NOTES
BILLS YET TO BE INTRODUCED. [From Our Parliamentary Reporter.] WELLINGTON, September 22. It is hoped to bring down the Taxing Bill to-morrow. A few details, however) have yet to be finally considered by Cabinet. It is possible the measure will include a modification of the Mortgage Tax, which politicians generally desire°to see abolished altogether. The Prime Minister informed mo to-dav that several policy Bills have yet to be introduced this session. One of these will amend the Commercial Trusts Act, in the direction of extending the statutory prevention of combines and exploitation in trade. Another measure will amend the Arbitration Act, probably with a view to overcoming the difficulty as regards alleged victimisation of waterside workers who took part in the big strike iwo years ago. There will also be a Lands Bill, which will be a consolidating measure, including provisions dealing with departmental affairs. _ A Railway Authorisation Bill will be introduced towards the end of the session making provision for certain railway works. It is anticipated that the Public Works .Statement and Railway Statement will be ibrought down next week. It is not intended to slacken activity on public works below a reasonable standard. Economy will be practised, but not to the extent of creating unemployment.
