TRENTHAM CAMP.

SURGEON-GENERAL HENDERSON'S . REPORT. everything"^atisfaotory. [Faoit Our PARLiAMINfAn? RttoßiEß.] WELLINGTON, ■{September 22. The Hoh. Jaines Allen has> received from Surgeott-geheral Henderson, director of medical services, a report which should allay any anxiety as to the condition of Trentham Oahrp and the position as regards .sickness. The •surgeon-gehi'ral says he has inspected the jjatap hospital, and found no epidemic. The case's of sickness are chiefly due. to iiifUtehsia. Of a. niild -type. The numbers admitted are due to the excessive care 01. the part of the .niedical officers, who send to hospital men who are only mildly indisposed. As regards measles, the cases are mild, mostly German measles. During the last three days only three new oases were admitted to the hospital. Accommodation is ample, and the patients are well cared for. As regards the camp itself, the huts are excellent, and compare favorably with those supplied in England. There is no necessity for the provision of separate dining halls' in the present camp. He considers the position of 'the huts is satisfactory. He does not consider there is any sanitation objection to the present iutetvals between the hutments, although in future camps it wonld be better to" have these 30ft apart. He does not consider there is any overcrowding, ai-the proportion of men per acre at- present is 105. The road 3 which are, beiiig constructed are quite satisfactory. He, is satisfied that there is no reason to fear' an outbreak of any epidemic owing to lack of sanitation. They must be prepared, for measles owl influenza occasionally recrudescing. He recommends several improvements at the camp. Shower baths (cold) are being erected, and \rill be ready at the end of this week. He suggests that the nightpoil should lie incinerated, and .that experiments should be made in this direction. The- huts should be thoroughly disinfected for six days between departure and arrival of the reinforcements.
