As'a footballer "DooUan," to give him the name ho was familiarly known by, was one of the best, :f not the beet, forwards of his tame. His introduction to tfio Kugby world outside Naoier came about through the institution by the .New Zealand Union of touring teams selected fr-m ■i j™ 3^ 161 anions throughout both islands, he being included in the North Island team on two occasions. Right throughout New Zealand hie worth w?s acclaimed, and his inclusiou in tho teams which recently tourrd OnijfnmJa , r .J *..*. tralia, and in which he gained further lame, was a foregone j!e «--s also a North Island, Hawke'e Bay, and Auckland "rep."
