VARIOUS RESOLUTIONS. [Per United Press Association.) WESTPORT, August 26. The Denniston Miners’ Union passed resolutions protesting against the practice of victimisation permitted on the waterfronts throughout New Zealand. They requested that the Government should set up a local Commission to make searching inquiries. They also protested against the action of the Coalowners’ Association in refusing to meet the representatives of the CotU Miners’ Federation to discuss a demand for a 20 per cent, rise in wages, owing to the increased cost of living. The union are forwarding to the Prime Minister a protest against the violation of the Gaming and Lotteries Act, in Sidling from the working class money to provide for pensions for returned and incapacitated soldiers and their dependents, and urging the Government to provide all the moneys required by a. graduated Land and Income Tax.
