ACCIDENTS AND DEATHS

NELSON, August 25. A hoy named Clifford Howard Clay was knocked down by a motor car while playing in the road at Brightwater ycsterdav, and died shortly afterwards. At the inquest to-day a verdict of death from a fractured skull, caused by being struck by a motor car, was returned, no blame being attachable to anyone. Honor Eliza Hillier, a resident of Port Chalmers, fell off a train on arrival at the Dunedin station on Tuesday evening, and injured her head. She was taken to the Hospital. Inquiry at the Hospital to-day showed that she was progressing favorably.

Connor Leslie, aged 19 years, eon of Mr James Leslie, of Gibbston, met his death on Tuesday by falling over a precipice 30ffc high while engaged in rabbiting on the Chalmers run. The coroner's verdict was “ Accidentally killed.” At the inquest on the body of Emily Manson, held at Clyde yesterday, a verdict of death from natural causes was returned. The deceased apparently had a heart seizure whilst on a motor bus, and fell out on the roadway. The body of a drowned man was found yesterday afternoon on the foreshore near Mechanics Bay, Auckland. It is presumed to be that of Glading Whisker, who fell overboard from the powder cutter Rosalie on Saturday. . ■ Emily Manson, a married woman, living at. Bannockburn, died suddenly at Clyde this morning. Heart fail tire is supposed to have been the cause of death.
