SHEEP OWNER PROSECUTED
At Tiraaru yesterday C. Studholme was prosecuted by the inspector of awards for dismissing shearers from the Pentland Hills station on December 14 for refusing to shear sheep which they said were wet after rain on the two preceding days. Some of the shearers evidence that by a unanimous vote of those, present they decided not to shear. Mr Hr D. Acland. for the defendant, without calling evidence. asked for a nonsuit, as the case was brought under section 60 of the Act of 1908. which did not apply. He also pointed out that the award did nob provide for a decision by vote, but each shearer must decide fer himself and 'give individual notice of objection to ehear. The Magistrate granted a. nonsuit, but remarked that there was plenty of time to bring the case under the proper clause of the amending Act.
