The perpetrator walked unconcernedly away, and was arrested in Tory street. At the police station he gave the name of James Little, stated that he had only arrived a week ago from Whangamomona, and gave no reason for the assault except that the Chinese had done him out of nis job. The injured man was removed to the hospital suffering from partial fracture of the lower jaw and severe shock.
