ACCIDENTS AND DEATHS

An elderly man named William Mackersey, a resident of Seddon, was killed near Polerus bridge by being thrown from his trap.. His neck was broken. A Palmerston North messago states that a terrible fate befell the 10-year-old son of Mr John Jellymau, of Ashurst, who late yesterday was dragged by a horse, his neck, arms, leg, and several ribs being broken. Death must have been instantaneous. Apparently the boy was leading the horse, which took fright, and the reins coiled round the lad's- body.
