International Commission of Control and the insurgents proved abortive, the latter insisting upon the restoration of the Turkish regime. The agitation against the Prince of Wied (the new Khi2) is spreading in districts heretofore loyal. It is reported that the notorious insurgent chief Hikmet was caught and ehot for attempting to induce' the gendarmerie at El Dassa,n to mutiny. There are renewed reports that the King intends to resign.
THE RUMORS PERSIST. TWO ARRESTS AND AN APOLOGY. LONDON, June, 7. (Received June 8, at 10.30 a.m.) It is reported in Paris, Berlin, Vienna, and Rome that Prince William of Wied is about to abdicate. The Duke of the Abruzzi and the members of the Bonaparte family are mentioned as probable candidates. DURAZZO, June 7. The Dutch gendarmerie arrested Colonel Muricchio and Professor Ohinago, two Italians. It is alleged that compromising documents were found at their residence. Both have beeru released on parole. The Premier subsequently apologised to the Italian Minister, and offered satisfaction.
