DR MAWSON'S ESCAPE. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, June 7. The Antarctic explorer Dr Mawson was on the Thames in a motor launch when the engine exploded. The engineer and another man were thrown into the river and swam ashore; the remainder of those aboard were brought in a launch to the shore. They esca]>ed just as the launch sank in deep water. SIR E. SHACKLETON LEAVES NORWAY. CHRISTJANIA, June 6. Sir Ernest Shackleton, in the Endurance, has sailed from Sandifjord for England. He inspected the vessel, and is highly pleased with its strength.
