A TOTAL EXCLUSION PROPOSED. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. OTTAWA, June 7. (Received June 8, at 9.15 a.m.) Mr Stevens, a British Columbian member of the) House of Commons, has given notice of an amendment of the Immigration Act providing,for the exclusion from the Dominion of all natives or naturalised citizens or of immigrants coming from any Asiatic country south of the fiftieth parallel. The amendment, however, exempts any country which has an agreement with Canada for the admission of its citizens. If carried it will mean the total exclusion of Malays, Chinese, Hindus, Persians, and Turks.
The Government of Japan have an agreement with Canada providing for the admission of a certain number of Japanese yearly.
