Should the Resolute be chosen as defender eh* would probably claim 9min allowance from Sir Thomas Lipton's challenger over a 30-mile course. [Sir Thomas Lipton first challenged with Sliamroek for the America Cup in 189$. Two jears later he again challenged wish Shamrock TL, and in 1902 with Shamrock 111. Cabled from New York that the Vanitie won the fourth trial race, being 2min ahead of the Resolute in the Long Island Sound Race.
