In the House of Commons Sir C. Kinloch Cooke asked Sir E. Grey if he would inquire whether Australia would accept responsibility for the administration of the New Hebrides.

The Foreign Minister replied thai it was impossible to make the suggestion without asking whether Great Britain would undertake the purchase or make an exchange of territory.
