Seven hundred and fifty-nine members voted, and there were 20 nominations, including that of Sun Yat Son. The first ballot was inconclusive, the President Yuan Shih Kai receiving 471 votes and Li Yuan Heng 154. The second was also inconclusive, the voting being; Yuan Shih Kai 497, Li Yuan Heng 162. On a third ballot being taken Yuan Sliih Kai was elected by 507 to 179 east for Li Yuan Heng.
