Thursday next will he a red letter day in the lives of the children belonging to the various orphanages of Dunedin, for on that day they are to be treated to a journey into the country, and will he for a fey' hours the guests of the citizens of Lawrence. The youngsters are now no doubt experiencing the pleasures of anticipation, and they may depend upon .'it everything that can be done to make their holiday thoroughly enjoyable will he done. The general public, too, may take advantage of tho chance to spend a day in tho country. A few cars will be attached to tho children’s train by which tho public can travel at excursion rates, and there is no doubt that a largo number will avail themselves of the opportunity. Tho narcissi season in Dunedin may bo said to ho over, hut Lawrence is somewhat later, and as tho season there lias hern very favorable, it may bo safely predicted .that the display of bloom on the hillsides and the show of the finer varieties in the local Town Hall will ho worth going a long way to see.
