A PEN. RIFLE ACCIDENT

[Per United Pkess Association.] BLENHELM, March 19. A shooting mishap occurred yesterday. James Neil was working at, Parker's llaxmill, when he was struck down bv a bullet from a pea.rifle. The bullet came from across the river, passed through a canvas partition, and struck Neil in the back, near the left shoulder. JTe was removed to the hospital, where he lies in a serious condition. Later in the dav the police arrested two boys, Frederick'Neilsen and William Attwood, who are each about 16 years of age, on a charge of shooting Neil. It is stated that they were firing at a can on a post, and one shot missed the can and struck Neil On the application of the police a remand for a week was granted. Neil is 35 years of age, and has a wife and four children.
