C.J.C. SPRING MEETING. [Feb United Press Association.] CHRISTCHURCH, March 19. Little work of importance was done at Riccarton this morning. Sanguinary brushed over half a mile in 49fsec. Cheddar, Kooya, Ventura, and Jason arrived yesterday. CRICKET. Siedeborg has advised the Selection Committee of his inability to make the trip to Christchurch in connection with the Plunket Shield. Bryden (Dunedin) will fill the vacancy. The. Grade Committee met vesterday in connection with the dispute over the second grade premiership, and decided to confer with the umpires as to what took place on the Caledonian Ground on Saturday last. RUGBY. The public will have an opportunity of witnessing two very interesting games of Rugby on the Caledonian Ground on Saturday. At 1.45 p.m. Southern, last year's premiers, meet the Zingari (Timaruj, the crack South Canterbury team, and this match should provide a very interesting game.' The South Canterbury team is a very strong one. and as several of the members of this team represented South Canterbury in the match against Otago last year, it will be interesting to see these players, who put up &uch a fine game and inflicted defeat on our representatives last season. At 3.15 p.m. Dunedin meet Sydenham (Christ-church). Though neither of these teams secured premier positions in their respective cities, they both play very attractive Rugby, and the public are assured of seeing a fast, open garnet, Mr J. H. Wilkinson has consented to become a vice-president of the Y.M.C.A. Harriers. The Myrtle, in charge of Mr Clayton, left Oaniaru at 6.30 yesterday morning. She aryived at the Heads at 5 p.m., and anchored at the Kaik. She is one of the competitors in the race to Oamaru on Good Friday.
