ANGLICAN HARRIER CLUB

The eighth annual meeting of the above club was held in the Dominion Tea Rooms last night, and was attended by a large number of members. ,

Mr A. Washer (president) presided, and in moving the adoption of the annual report and balance-sheet mentioned that the report was the most satisfactory of any yet submitted to the club. In the course of his remarks he congratulated the club's captain (Mr G. G. Notman) on his exceedingly creditable performances iu the past year, and said that the club were proud to have such an able man in their ranks. The election of office-bearers resulted as follows: —President, Mr Win. Breen; vice-presidents—Hon. Jas. Allen. M.P., Messrs C. E. Statham, M.P., Geo. R. Ritchie, G. H. Statham, Thos. Somerville, A. C. Smith (all re-elected), Revs. E. D. Evans and W. H. Roberts; captain, A. E. J. • Wright; deputy-captains, F. M. Reid and L. E. Barrett; delegates to Otago Centre, N.Z.A.A.A., G. G. Notman and W. Tweedy; hon. auditor, Wm. Forrester ; hon. starter and time-keeper, J. T. Hamann; hon. secretary, A. J. Mazengarb; hon. treasurer, J. T. Gibson; General Committee— A. E. J. Wright, F. M. Reid, L. E. Barrett, G. G. Notman, W. Tweedy, A. J. Mazengarb, J. T. Gibson, P. W. Breen, and S. Macdonald. Mr P. W. Breen expressed the club's regret at losing the services of Mr A. Washer, who, for several vears had been president of the club. He said that Mr Washer had taken a keen and active interest in the club's affairs.. He moved that Mr Washer he elected" an honorary life member of the club. This motion was carried unanimously. It was decided to accept the Y.M.C.A.'s invitation to the opening run of the season on April 5. The offer of Mr A. T. Long to again present a gold medal to the winner of the club's sealed handicap in connection with the Otago CC. championships was accepted with thanks. During supper Mr Washer intimated that he had a very pleasant duty to perform. He then presented Mr A. C. Smith (a vice-president of the club) with a barometer suitably engraved. He mentioned that Mr Smith, in joining the ranks of the Benedicts, was but following the example of some of the other members. Mr Smith was one of the founders of the club and the members were taking that" opportunity of expressing their appreciation of his services and wishing him success. Messrs C. E. Statham, M.P., P W Breen (k G. Notman, F. M. Reid, and A. E. J Wnght endorsed Mr Washer's - remarks'.
