Eraser said flying surveys of railways ahead promised to keep the officers employed for years. In reply to another deputation the Minister said lie intended introducing an amendment to the Mining Act next session. ° GORE, January 7. A six-roomed house at Mataura, owned, by Mr W. P. WELLINGTON, January 7. At the annual meeting of the New Zealand Surveyors’ Institute to-day the following officers were elected :--President, Mr T. Humphries; vice-president, Mr H. Sladen ; councillors. Messrs H. Smith .and J. E. Fulton; members—Messrs A. Crain H. Fend all, J. Siramonds, F. Thompson’ CT Parkinson, T. Davie, P. Black, J. Welch, and W. Wheeler.
