On Wednesday the Western Australian Government’s steamer Kwinana arrived at Wellington from Bunbury with a cargo of hardwood. Some surprise was occasioned when it was known that the Kwinana had 25 passengers aboard. She appears to be purely a cargo boat, and, as a matter of fact, she is used principally for conveying cattle on the north-west coast of Australia. Her passenger accommodation is certainly not modelled on the latest principles. Most of the passengers on board are doing the round trip, and will return by the vessel. The Kwinana, which was originally the Darius, and ran in the Cal-cutta-Australian trade, is a vessel of 3,295 tons, and is commanded by Captain H. S. Nicholas, late, of the Knmara.
