THE INSURANCE ACT

LLOYD GEORGE CONFIDENT. Press By Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, January.3. Ma- Lloyd George states that 10,000 doctors have agreed to serve under the Insurance Act, and that panels ore possible in seven-eighths of the country. FILLING THE PANELS BY HOOK OR BY CROOK.' LONDON, January 3. (Received January 4, at 9.20 a.m.) The newspapers strongly criticise Mr Lloyd George's speech before the Advisorv Committee, especially his proposals declaring that doctors working on incomplete panels may take into practice with, them assistants or partners, whereupon the panels shall be closed, thus enabling the doctors to secure the whole of the.insurance practice. _ Mr Lloyd George is promising to send into such districts as many assistants as are needed. The Chancellor ako proposes that where no panel exists doctors 6hall be imported, at a salary of £SOO per annum, but need not give the whole of their time to work under the Act, inasmuch as they will be allowed to pursue private practice also.
